Respectfully Mods, if you think there's no need for a new thread I accept... but since the thread's title seams too long now, may I suggest a new one: "The Gazelles".
Thanks on interesting image, Bertie! Only pity the photo is little bit blurry and can't see inscript on the battery (it was an AH.1 w/XW serial, I assume?)
No need for a new thread title, thanks: we're quite comfortable with the one we have.

Is there anyone with a reasonable number of hours on the Gazelle who has also flown its contemporaries, such as the 206, 350, 500 (ie: aircraft of similar size) who would care to offer a report on the handling qualities of the Gazelle. How it feels to fly, its quirks, its overall performance etc. There are several of us who regularly visit this thread who would be intrigued to read such information (I know this because I have traded several PM's with other Rotorheads on this topic).

.. who owns 6 Gazelles.
It reminds me of a client of mine in the UAE who bought seven Bentleys. When I enquired as to the reason for the fleet he explained that he wanted to drive a different car each day of the week but loved the Bentley most .. so bought seven, in different colours and named them after the days of the week (in Arabic of course).
I suppose if 600 is a Brit he may subscribe to a broadly Christian culture ("the seventh day shall be a day of rest") and which may be why he only has six!
Okay, I'll try see if he would like to pen a report.

Gazelles with Attitude!
Wing Commander Wallace: Now listen here Prune, what's this talk I'm hearing about our Gazelles being looped?
Pilot Officer Prune: Loops Winco? I don't think so Sir. What I know is that Smith was practicing autorotations yesterday afternoon.
Winco: Smith! Well I should have known!
POP: Actually Sir I think its probably 'Joe Public', you know how it is when they see something they don't understand, they probably saw him practising and thought it was an aerobatic maneuver of some sort.
Winco: Well Prune this is your responsibility. What I'm telling you is that I don't want any of our aicraft flying upside down. Is that understood?
POP: Perfectly Sir.
Winco: Prune.
POP: Yes Sir.
Winco: Gazelles can't really loop - can they?
POP: Absolutely not Sir!

I wonder if anyone recognize the gentleman on the photo:

Thanks in advance!

SS: Any more like that?
I mentioned about Charlie Haughey ex-Irish PM being flown about in a 341 in the early 80's. Apparently in Srpska this still goes on!

The flight report that springs to my mind is featured in the July 2001 edition of Pilot magazine published in the UK. the author was Pat Malone.
The subject of the report is an ex Royal Navy HT2 XW895.
I flew this aircraft myself whilst serving with 705 Naval Air Squadron and it was later part part of MD600's stable. Steve was kind enough to let me be re-aquainted with her 24 yrs after my last flight!!!!
Do you still own it Steve?
You may be able to get hold of a copy of the magazine from eBay? If not I can send you a photocopy of the article.
