CHC Contract.

Has CHC picked up a Total contract from Caverton in Nigeria ?
I don't think so, Caverton only has the one contract for Total AFAIK.
It could be Total is spreading their exposure between Bristow, Caverton and CHC.

Oh dear ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha . So many rumours about CHC. If they are going to do any AW139 flying it'll probably be to replace the ACN one which was recently AOG for around 2 months.

As for 12 AW139s for Shell at the end of 2013 . They presently have 6 and I don't think they're too happy with them. I eep hearing rumours of all the big new contracts CHC are starting this year with their 2 sad old ex-Schreiner S76C+s, and 16 AW139s on the way. Lots of people claim to have had job offers, they're building a lean-to shed next to the NAF Hind hangar in Port Harcourt which they've brought Peter Weisz out of retirement to oversee, but I don't see any other new hangars being built or many people actually leaving to join as yet.

I dont think Shell will ever be happy, with any contractor or a/c type

Swings and roundabouts.... Enjoy the ride while you've got it

From what I have heard, Shell were pretty happy about Dancopter, but that was (of course) until they left with their blue machines and Caverton took over the joint venture contract.

Devil

Its about time they picked something up!
They have - a partnership with Jagal Group and the wonderful Anwar Janwarkani

A few years ago the House of Representatives Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation alleged that Nigerdock's jetty was being used by Niger Delta militants for gun-running and illegal importation of arms and ammunition into Nigeria. Naturally the allegations were never proved. Naturally as an American company these days CHC will have done due diligence on its new partner to make sure it has no dodgy connections like the old one . Oh, wait, it's actually Atlantic Aviation and nothing to do with the Jagal Group isn't it

As long as the Brown Envelope system exists at Shell....those contracts will be shuffled around as the local management changes and adjusts the operation to fill their own wallet.

How many Hundreds of Millions of dollars have the Shell Managers walked off with over the years?

We've just heard from a semi-reliable source on our base that CHC was just awarded a 3 AW139 contract for Total in the past 48 hours.
Not true
The type is being added onto the Atlantic Aviation AOC by March 1st
They are working on it
and work will commence mid April??!!
Not true
This is in addition to the 12 AW139's that they have slated for Shell by the end of 2013
Not true

As today not a single contract for Atlantic Aviation ...
But I love the R22 cockpit view of an oil rig on their website

Question Nigeria Work Environment

Hello Mates,
I've heard that is very complicated to work/fly in Nigeria due to miscommunication with flight controllers, exposure to the crazy muslim terrorists and to face the FOG all the times on the oil rigs route. Is that all true ?
Someone could explain hows the work environment in Lagos , specially with Caverton policies ?
Is Caverton a safe company to work ?

Skyjoey,

Any pilot wanting to leave Brazil to work in Nigeria should perhaps keep it quiet. Mental instability is not well regarded in our profession.

Bloomberg News reports Aero have grounded all planes UFN due to staff strike action. Don't know if it effects their helis.

Still....can always squeeze a few more bods on the Arik flights. No aircon on PH-LOS flight this week. Sweaty weight lost faster than the Atkins diet.

Cool Nigerian Jobs for Expat

Adroight,

I believe that is having a misunderstanding on my questions and
concerns.
In fact I'm worried about the current work environment in Nigeria. I need to know if there are a minimum of security for the expat people. Our life is unique and I have not the slightest interest in put myself in risk. Fortunately the safe world represents more than 70% of the world. So, we Pilots, have many other options.....

I do undertand your question and apologise for my irreverant response. However, at time when many non-Brazilian pilots and engineers would very much like to work in Brazil but are prevented from doing so due to current regulations it seems somewhat peculiar that a Brazilian pilot wants to work in a place that many of us avoid like the plague.

i admit to admiring that photo....and have done the same thing with two of mine....the Nigerian and the one from Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso). At least Upper Volta was a "fun" place with some very interesting flying...but it was pretty much the at the end of the road, railroad, and flight route. All that was manageable but it was the loving care of Evergreen that caused it to be a nightmare.

So....if one found one's self in Nigeria employed by Evergreen...and assigned to Escravos.....would any career change guarantee a move up?
