Head of Air Ops job
Threads starting to slip a bit, clearly things are getting back to normal for all the bush flyers. Thought I would bring it back to the front page again to remind our West African RW chaps no news is good news... so why no news then?
But then.....
Just checking out the job scene, the Shell web page is advertising for a Head of Air Ops job in Nigeria. So maybe dust off the trusty CV then.... not for me though, they need someone who can walk and chew gum at the same time
IK

From the past bunch of Shell Air Reps....that might not necessarily be a requirement. Exceptions might be Crusher and the Sheep....at least they knew how the game was played. Their predecessors were definitely a rum bunch.

What do you want to write about? The unofficial bombings and kidnappings? It's all a fabrication of the oh so evil western world...

Bellboy,
Most of the regular posters on this thread have moved to another forum.
And things are far from stable. Allegedly.

Just found this thread languishing way down the line. What happened ? Can't believe everything has become completely normal in Nigeria ?

Rotorheads is the forum for this thread: and as a long standing policy, we don't link to any other forum. There is ample opportunity to discuss West Africa/Nigeria here

Well, I think it's extremely sad that one of the most informative and lively threads on this whole forum, has withered on the vine like it has - two and a half months to fill a page!
After years of active input from various established ppruners who were either in W. Africa or had extensive experience there, all it takes is for some arsehole to pop out of nowhere, throw a few inflammatory xenophobic remarks into the pot, which were not considered as offensive to the moderator as they were to many, and the 'old hands' pull out and go elsewhere!
It's been a considerable loss to Rotorheads, and I sincerely hope the individuals concerned 'wander' back and participate once again.

SP,
But hardly anybody does anymore, do they ? When this was modrated by Heliport it was a lively thread.
212,
The xenophobic exchange wasn't the only reason people left.
This post will probably be removed without reason as well.

212 - If I am the xenophobic ars*hole to whom you refer then I must take exception. I may be viewed as an ars*hole to whingers who love to complain but refuse to do anything about their situation and posters here with limited knowledge of the industry who feel qualified to comment on each and every topic. But curiously enough they are also the limit of my xenophobia.

Concerning Lagos and other bases, anyone who can tell me, about the risk of malaria, if you spend your time off in top class hotels?
And if some of you expads in Nigeria had the chance to get away (Mexican Gulf, North Sea, Canada); would you stay? or would you leave even if it meant a smaller pay?
best regards

The other forum has many pages but not much news from crews other than a few posters and most of what is on there is exerpts from newspapers and other media about the banking scandals and militants in the Delta. Very little news from the air or ground crews about their activities.

Epiphany, it wasn't you I was referring to (though I see looking back that you did upset MM) - it was Aloa, or something similar.
