bb,

That'll be a good thing to see. I hope you'll post pictures here when it arrives. Will the dedicated SAR aircraft be a joint venture with most of the oil majors or is it just Chevron who'll have access to it?

I hope you have double reinforced steel plates over the storm drains outside your hangar

Good and Bad

The good news is that after the assassination attempt on BIV, the undercarriage can be replaced with a transplant within 2 weeks. A suitable donor (BGN) seems to have been found as long as BIV doesn't reject the new undercarriage .

The bad news is............... the problem with the main rotor blades - don't you just hate the way the French really bear a grudge against anything American .

Another Brit Kidnapped?

Reports of another Brit kidnapped.....any word on his situation?

I am glad the "boys" only have dugout canoes for transportation and not modern hi-tech speed boats with substantial funding for operations.

Angry Scotsman Kidnapped - 2 Brits now in day 82 of captivity

SAS,

A Scots employee of an Aberdeen company was kidnapped from his car in Port Harcourt on Thursday night. This has been confirmed by the Foreign Office, but more details are not being released in case it hinders efforts for his release.

Two further Bris who were kidnapped from the vessel HD Blue Ocean at the entrance to the Sambreiro River on 9 September are still being held by militants who are refusing to release them in a protest against UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s pledge to help the country fight terrorism. The UK press seems to have forgotten them and there is no word as to whether they may be released soon. I hope something happens to break the deadlock and let the men be released before Christmas. Unlike some of the other hostage takings, there seem to have been no visits or phone calls allowed to the two men.

This is a bit troubling. As a novice to working in Africa (as a civilian) but accustomed to working in not-so-nice countries, does this type of activity happen very often to Westerners working in Nigeria?

loav8r,

A good website to find out what's going on is:

Oyibosonline

You'll need to register with them to get access to the security threads.

So far this year 75 expatriates have been kidnapped, 3 killed and 3 are presently being held, with 41 Nigerians having been kidnapped and 58 killed. In 2006 72 expatriates were kidnapped and in 2007, the worst year to date, 172 were kidnapped.

However, both Bristow and Aero/CHC now have journey management and security procedures in place, which makes other, softer targets more likely to be taken.

Aser - if you interested the 1st Bristow S92 will arrive Lagos on 14 Dec - it has only been delayed surprisingly by NNCAA bureaucracy.

A second dedicated SAR S92 arrives in Sep 09.

Anything wrong?

UL,

I guess Mama was referring to the unfortunate incident where a blade stand was blown over inside the hangar by an EC225 doing a maintenance run outside

Thanks, Phone Wind
It never seems to end for them, does it?
All I can say is I'm glad I'm not there right now, 'cos they seem to be living in interesting times.

Ciao,

Go for it!

Bushrat,

If you're talking about Bristow in Nigeria, I'd think they'll have you on shift by the weekend if you contact them today!
