Unhappy Air Zermatt accident

MONTE ROSA. AIR ZERMATT HELICOPTER FALLS. 5 INJURED

(AGI) – Aosta, Italy, July 10 – A helicopter of Air Zermatt fell this morning not far from a mountain shelter on the Monte Rosa. Five people were injured and two of them are in serious conditions. The incident occurred on the Swiss side of Monte Rosa, while the helicopter was ready to land near the Regina Margherita shelter at 4,550 metres. On board there were technicians and doctors of a scientific expedition who were collecting data at high altitude. The shelter tenders set the alarm and helicopters of Air Zermatt and rescue services went on the place. Injured people were collected and hospitalised in the hospitals of the zone. One of the injured people was bought to Aosta hospital, the other ones were hospitalised in Zermatt. Swiss authorities opened an inquiry to investigate on the accident.(AGI) .

Lama down on Monte Rosa

A Lama helicopter operated by Air Zermatt chrashed on top of the Signalkuppe at 4,554 metres in the Monte Rosa Massif. The Monte Rosa is after the Mont Blanc the highest mountain in the Alps.
The helicopters was completely destroyed, all 5 persons on board suffered heavy injuries. Air Zermatt is one of the most famous helicopter operators in Europe.

Tecpilot - They are a very good company, good pilots and good safety program. Flew with Thomas there in the EC135 when i was over there last year. Glad to see they are all OK. Was it the machine based at Zermatt or the one from down at Raron.

Helicopter was the HB-XFX. Doesn't know the departure place.
The ship was on it's load limits (5 Person on such altitude) and it was very gusty.
