747 Due at EDI.........

Hi all,

Heard a 'rumour' today that a 747 is due to arrive at EDI on Saturday, can anyone please confirm if this is so and if so, does anyone know ETA and which operator.

With an aircraft that big, and a runway that short, this is something I have to see.

Many thanks

Fra

Haven't heard anything recently. Check a good website called www.EGPH.co.uk. It lists all A/C Pax or Cargo of any interest. As for your 747, Seen quite a few land at EDI. Last one was air France, when France played Scotland at rugby in April. No probs.

Not likely to be an event Fra...

Plenty of runway at EDI for a 747... something around 8400ft I believe

I've seen a 747 take off from NCL - that was impressive (scary), and also a 707 at MME !

747 @ EDI

Will be operated by European Aviation to SFD (Sanford, Orlando). Don't have the times but believe it is due in on Fri eve for a nightstop before departing Sat.

The 747 arrived at 19:00, but I'm not sure when it's leaving.

Was driving to work at just before 7pm and saw this beautiful 747 200 flying over the Forth for a landing on R24 @ EDI. It was EAL G-BDXF ( The Green One ), but strangely enough, its parked up at the end of the dissused runway at the top, would love to see more of these awsome A/C.

Went out to EDI this morning. European certainly have a great looking A/C. Got a great pic of it too, and will hopefully get it uploaded on Mon or Tue night.

This thread reminds me of a photo I came across some time ago of an Aer Lingus 747-200 taking off at Edinburgh on a rugby weekend. That there tail is pretty close to the ground!

There are several pictures of 747s at Edinburgh available at airliners.net so it can't be that unusual.
