The headsets in the aircraft are Sennheiser hme/c 46. They are ok but there is very little noise attenuation even with both earcups on. Many use the ANR HMEC 25/26 as their own personal headset which is a hell of a lot better on a long day and considering the length of your potential career, important!
The pin plug set up in out Airbus does not provide power to any ANR so you need the self contained battery powered version. There are other headset options but they need to be certified for aviation use, usually via a TSO.

I quite fancy a pair of Telex Airman 850 as they don't require batteries or panal power for the ANR and they are TSO approved, however I will certainly look into the HMEC's.

I've used Telex 750's, Telex 850's, Sennheiser 25-KA-V (ANR battery) and now using Bose A20's. I fly a Hawker 800 XP.
The 750's aren't ANR so they're out of the discussion.
The Telex 850s are marginally better but still they built to a price and whilst comparatively cheap, the quality of RT isn't a patch on the next two. I use these in the sim....
The Sennheisers are very good. A real jump in quality in both transmit and receive. Worth the money but I found as the flying days were getting longer I was still getting fatigued by noise.
Now I use the Bose and I won't go back to the others. Yes, very pricey but what value is your hearing? They are so quiet. Really good audio. I can hear the ATIS clearly when my colleagues cannot. Highly recommended.

Thank you redsnail. I have used Bose headsets for GA flying and I absolutely love them, but for an A320 I'm looking for something a bit more lightweight. The Sennheisers definitely seem to be worth the extra money compared to a Telex.

Bose or no Bose!
Was losing my hearing on class one check. Moved to the Bose after too many years on the David Clarks and Turbines. Never looked back. Best buy ever made in Flying and if the fail tomorrow they will be replaced asap.

Another tick for the Bose. Used in 737 and 757. I actually use it on NATS when colleagues take off their headsets. I only get two ears and I intend to be able to hear till it's all over.
