Post Gatwick Closed?

This morning (15/02) I overheard a conversation between a controller and a BA plane inbound Gatwick saying the runway was closed and was likely to stay that way for the next 15 minutes.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

Dan

Aircraft with hydralic problems stopped on 08R following landing and had to wait for tug to pull it to stand. Believe so problems due to seized brakes delayed removal. Northern runway used briefly for some 'small' aircraft departures.

Khalifair A310, Hydraulic probs- think they lost nosewheel steering as a result. Northern runway was *not* used (at least i hope not!), since i was holding on 26R at the time! 2 or 3 RJ's departed off 26L from Charlie with a tailwind.

Thanx BB. My source was at the scene, I was at RVP(N) and he said the Northern runway was used. 26L does make more sense - assume that RJs count as small aircraft!!! Apparently as the tow was attempted the (?) port gear showed signs of collapse - again you may have had a better view if you were holding on 26R.

I stand corrected. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

Edited for spelling.
