Post FAA Type rating recurrency

Anybody know how long a FAA type rating remains valid for without recurrency checks?. .Does it expire after 5 years or is there no. .restriction?. .Any help much appreciated

In the US, the type rating never expires. Currency depends on which FAR you're operating under. For 121, you need 3 takeoffs and landings in 90 days, and a current pc. For part 91, all that is required is a BFR.

Caulfield, refer to U.S. FAR 61.58. To serve as PIC of an aircraft requiring more than one pilot, requires both 12 month and 24 month proficiency checks.

The exception applies to pilots operating under FAR 121, 125, 133, or 137 or SFAR 58. PIC proficiency checks under FARs 121, 125, or 135 satisfy the requirements.

So technically, a U.S. type rating never expires, but to serve as PIC one must complete the proficiency checks.
