Drop down masks on turboprops
Hello
Do turboprop acft like the ATP, f50 etc have drop down masks, and are they featured in safety briefings/cards for these types?

The ATR42 has a max FL250, in the event of a decompression it can descend to safe levels quickly enough that most passengers wouldn't need oxygen. There are however several oxygen outlets around the cabin that a hostie can plug a mask into, to provide oxygen to any old dears who turn a bit blue
Can't remember what the safety cards/brief say about it.

I was slf on an atr 3 yrs ago. Before departure, I toured the cabin looking at emer exits and location of FA's pbo in the overheads. When I asked where are "our o2 masks?" I was told that they are not required because we won't be flying high enough. I guess thay believe that bs and have forgotten about smoke or other noxious fumes. Like most business execs, "Thank god for corporate aircraft". CY

ATR (and other similar) aircraft do not require drop down masks simply because they are restricted to operations at or below FL250.
Other higher level operating turboprops (Saab 2000) do have them fitted exactly as do any jet operating at high level.
Corporate Yank
Perhaps you just forgot for a second that drop down oxygen is mixed with cabin air, and is thus absolutely useless when it comes to noxious fumes etc...?

The Dornier 328 is the only turbo prop in the UK with 'drop down masks'. It is a requirement that the system is displayed on the safety card, and demonstrated by the cabin crew prior to departure.
The Q400 which will soon be on the UK register also has drop down oxygen masks.

I take it you mean "REGISTERED in the UK." Turboprops with drop-down oxygen masks in the cabin have been "in the UK" for ages! Also, The oxygen mask demo only has to be done where the aircraft intends operating above FL250. If the flight is planned lower, it is not mandatory. Furthermore, having searched for the particular regulation which says that the demonstration has to be done "prior to departure" unsuccessfully, I doubt that it exists. I have personally been a passenger, on more than one occassion, where the crew have obviously decided to climb above FL250, and done the demonstration in flight.
