Unhappy Frightened Flyers...

Hi...My mum is worried about going on holiday to Tenerife, not for the sun, but for the JMC bird we'll be going on. We leave on 12 July 02, well, anyone going to be on that flight out of interest?

My main question is...what do i tell her to not be afraid of flying. Ive tried all the old ones. 'Nothing will go wrong' 'you stand more chance is dying in a road accident' and humurously when she asked how long the flight was, i replied to her suprise 'im not sure, i dont think anyone has made it yet!' But what should i say? As i mentioned above, if anyone is on that flight, would be nice to know someone will be awaiting her if you know what i mean.

And just on the side, what craft will it be? My dad used to cater JM along with many others, and suggests the Bus 320 or B75. Any ideas?

Smooth skies

hi,. .perhaps buy her a book on the subject, I believe if you go to this link at amazon . .http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1840241241/o/qid=1011703517/sr=2-1/ref=sr_bt_1/026-8412392-7177215. .It is written by a pilot explaining what goes on during the flight, and a psychologist. One of my friends mum purchased it, I think it was helpful.. .The thing I find odd, I have a friend who refuses to fly on commercial flights, but really wants to come flying with me when I finish my PPL....bizarre.. .Good luck.. .Tom.

You could get her a trial lesson at a flying school before she goes. I took one thinking I would hate it but got hooked enough to want to learn to fly. I still think I will hate the decent to land in the big aircraft though but I am not at the controls for them.
