Negatory.

Singapore Airlines currently operate the longest nonstop commercial flight, between New York (Newark) and Singapore, as SQ21. Great circle distance is 9535 miles, while LAX-DXB is 8339.

SQ21 is scheduled at 18:30 hours, while the return flight from Singapore, SQ22, is scheduled at 18:15. It is operated in a one-class-only A340.

Am I right in assuming that one class is either business or first?

Think it's 100 business class seats on their A340-500 for this flight.

This service used to offer a mix of Business and Premium Economy but now operates as all-business. The economics do not lend themselves to anything other than premium traffic as the fuel costs on such a sector are astronomical, plus they are only getting one sector out of each aircraft per day.

Yes, as mentioned, all business class configuration.

A friend of mine has done the trip once and said it was hell, 18+ hours just too much and the next time he had occasion to NY he went via Frankfurt (I think) just to get a break!

Are you sure about that? I know that it didn't carry a full load, but it did carry commercial passengers !!

Actually it was 1989 not 1991. Empty aircraft and special dense fuel (SG of .84), you can access a .pdf file of Flight International's report of the flight here:

Not quite the same length but EWR-DEL is only about 2 hours shorter and this one does offer economy class! Imagine being stuck in the middle of the 2-5-2 cabin for 16+ hours !
