How many pilots...Sponsored&Selfsponsored

Gentlemen,

From floating through this forum, it just came to my mind and thought let's prepare a statistics (in case we would be able, at least to have rough ideas, otherwise I know it's quite difficult). just for ourselves or let's say wannabes to have an idea that how many pilots of aviation industry has selfsponsored them and how many have been sponsored via sponsorship (any kind of sponsorship). Let's figure the question like this:

How many pilots are there all over the world? And what are the percentages of selfsponsored and sponsored pilots?

Or if we don't have figures, we can at least have an imagination from piltos inputs. So how many of you have selfsponsored your training? And how many of you have been sponsored?

Regards,

Er....so you've had an idea that you'd like to know these statistics, and now you'd like people to give you the figures? So why not research them yourself if you think these statistics are of any use to anybody? For all the research, what use will it be? And is this a 'men only ' thang? There are one or two ladies in aviation, and even in this forum, who have a connection with flying. Not good at reversing aeroplanes though- it's a female thing.

Hey Notso,

Well the idea behind this is that many wannabes doubt that should they sponsor their training or not, usually when they think of future oppurtunities and job placements. So if our professional pilots who have already made it to there, post there tips and other odds and ends it will help and encourage some of the wannabes that whether they should go with selfsponsor or not.
