Hmm! Difficult to answer that. Your profile shows nothing about you. If you could tell us why you need to know perhaps we can try to answer.

If you are a pilot with an operator your SOPs should tell you?

It's going to get down to your SOPs. For our operation, the aircraft must be established in the landing configuration and stabilised, by 1000 feet AGL, that's typically somewhat after the FAF, i.e. the low drag approach with approach Flap at the FAF, and Gear and Landing Flap somewhere between FAF and 1000 feet.

In IMC conditions, our SOP does align with your thinking, i.e. the aircraft fully configured for landing with checks completed at the FAF.

I know that the SOP'll specify the details, when, how ect...
But I'm asking about the standard rules cause it can't be opened, should be a limit & each company will set its own SOP in accordance with standard limit.

The Landing Checklist will have items on it: Gear........and end with Landing Flaps........ Therefore there is no point in starting it too early. On the 737, you should go 'Gear down, Flap 15, Landing checklist to the Flaps' and hold on the Landing checklist until you are ready for final flap, then complete the checklist from the checklist- do not put it away until the checklist is complete. Sometimes you may not be taking final flap until about the 1000' mark. I am not aware of an external limit to start or complete the checklist, the aim of the game is to get it completed by 1000'.

Depends on your SOPS but "Gear Down" is the cue IMHO to initiate the landing check although you may not be able to complete same due to outstanding items, such as Flap etc.

The point where you should be stable etc should also be specified in your SOPS.

In our company (747) there are 2 different scenarios: Precision approach (ILS) and non-precision approach. For precision approaches, gear come down after glideslope is alive, then landing flaps at G/S intercept. Landing checklist comes immediately after landing flaps are selected.

For non-precision approaches, airplane is configured and landing checklist completed prior to IAF, so any required timing can be done with a stable airspeed.
