FAA Conversion

Hi,

Please could some enlightened person(s) help.

I currently have 600 hours hence no ATPL, a JAA Commercial with an HS 125 Type. I would like to do some freelancing on N registered aircraft and get paid for it!

Can anyone please tell me what the best way is to do this, do I need to get an FAA Commercial Licence, ie ground school, flight test, type rating etc or can I get my existing licences validated.

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

I took a quick look, according to FAR 61.75 it appears the FAA will issue a PPL based on a foriegn license, but I dont see anything about CPLs. It does say ratings will carry over, if I read it correctly. You can check it out yourself at www.FAA.gov
Licenses are issued under the regulations of part 61, All the FARs are available under the regulation page.

As far as I understand it, you can't work with a FAA ticket granted on the back of a foreign ticket outside of the USA. Also I forgot, he will need a FCC permit also.

Thanks Bugcrusher and FlyVMO for the advice , I think the answer is therefore commercial/instrument exams, commercial flight test and then do the type in a sim.
