They're full of ballast to represent passenger loadings.

Re: a380 tests ....

Is it just me that has to keep reminding himself that this isn't a picture of cabins from two different aircraft? It is going to be a very strange experience flying with hundreds of fellow passengers above or below you. Still, what a fantastic effort by all concerned, from those having the vision, to those financing it, to the design and manufacturing teams, and lastly to the flight-testing team (even though there wasn't any room in it for someone from this island, sadly)

WHile definately not as spacious as the main deck, the upper deck shouldn't appear as tight once all of the fascia is up and lighting installed. It is more like the upper deck of a 747, but with a bunch more rows to the back

No, it is much bigger.
Compare this

with this

And of course, it runs full length - though the back may have economy on upper deck.

Right you are chornedsnorkack < had to cut and paste that

The earlier post referenced the lower 2nd deck ceiling height which I was also referring to but did not specify as being similar to the 747.

The big Bus is definately w i d e r

Well, I could only see the size described as "kinda small", "not as spacious", "as tight" - so, no sign whether it was the ceiling height or overall size.

As for the overall width, the upper deck is clearly less wide than A380 main deck or 747 main deck. On the other hand, it compares favourably with at least the B767. The comparison with Airbus 330/340 is harder because there is that difference in the wall slope.

I suppose that the side overhead bins might be a bit small on A380 upper deck - and they are also small on B747 upper deck. But then again, there should be tpace for the floor bins, as on the B747 upper deck.

Does anyone have any idea about the size of the centre overhead bins on A380 upper deck?
