Your company phraseology for pushback
When communicating with Ground (namely the Pushback crew), what phraseology does your company use from start to finish?

Strangest request I've ever read, that's why I'll have to answer it...
“Ground from cockpit" - “go ahead”
“Ready for pushback” - “brakes off”
“brakes are off” - “pushing back”
------------------------“brakes on”
“brakes on” - “tow bar removed”

Or from the ground up
Ground to flightdeck confirm walkaround check is complete release brakes.
(FC) Brakes released
(G) Commencing push back if relevant confirm the direction the a/c needs to be facing
(FC) Confirm ready (push)
(G) Brakes to park on taxiway and confirm L or R engines to start up (Confirm this if start up on stand at commencement)
(G) Confirm a/c is clear for departure and state which side the 'Headset man' will clear the a/c either capt or F/O side.
Once clear give the thumbs up displaying the locking pin. (Locking pin removal can also be confirmed when a/c is clear to depart.
Capt / FO should indicate with the thumbs up that all is ok. If he wishes headset man to come back should flash landing lights a couple of times.
Headst man shouldthen wait until the a/c passes him under power.

Gnd: I nconfirm all doors, hatches and holds are secure and the steering bypass pin is fitted (other add things like beacon rotating etc).
Capt: Clear for push and start; standing by brakes set to park
Gnd: Release Brakes
Capt: Brakes released
Gnd: Commencing push......clear start 2.

Then engines on reverse thrust to get out.....
Then 2 months later get an invoice for 1000 USD for use of a pushback tug! Ahh Africa!

similar situation as the previous,
"hello, ground! looks like we have a fire warning on No. 1, can you confirm?"
"ground? are you there ground?"
seriously, actual incidents. you have a point in being precise about this crucial phase of flight-esp when the ground engineer does not speak english well.
