ATPL Distance Learning Refresher Courses Obligatory?

Can anyone tell me if the two-week refresher courses for both modules of the ATPL Distance Learning Programmes (e.g. at Bristol) need to be attended in order to be allowed to do the exams? Or are they merely very useful?

Thanks,

For the vast majority of us, yes they are a compulsary part of the approved course.

(There are some people who don't need to follow an approved course, e.g. foreign high-hours ATPLs converting their license to JAR, but I suspect you're not one of them.)

There is a CAA requirement for 10% of the total course hours to be completed in-house. This equates to approximately 2 weeks per module.

As those above have stated, it is a very useful period in which you can sit mock exams and gear up for the CAA examinations.

You have just got to go! You will not believe what you have missed in your home study, and how much it brings you on prior to the exams.
You would have to have 2 pencils up your nose and a pair of undies on your head not to do it!!

Fully agree. You would be mad not to go to the residential courses. The amount of knowledge and confidence you gain in a week of 'in-house' training during a week at ground school is amazing.

See it as a necessary part of the course and not a chore.

Good luck...........TJ
