Commercial License Training
I'm about to start my commercial helicopter license, probably via distance learning on a modular course and I was wondering if anybody particularly recommends any school (i.e. Oxford, Guildhall, Cabair, Bristol etc.) as I'm really unsure which one to go for.
I have a PPL(A) and PPL(H) with insructors rating and have taught for about 6 months.
Any ideas?

Why do it if it's not fun?

James,
I could recommend a school if you really wanted me to. I did my fixed-wing course at Bristol, I thought they were superb. Of course, that doesn't mean it's the best for you.....
The best thing you can do is speak to every school you're interested in (there aren't that many who offer the course you're after, so you should probably speak to all of them). Decide what are the most important things that you're looknig for in a school, then decide which school meets your needs the best.
(For me, the most important thing for distance learning is the quality of the notes, since I'll be relying on the notes to do just about all of my learning from. Second to that is the administration, such as response times - if I have a problem, I want to be able to contact instructors promptly, not wait 2 weeks for a reply. Your priorities may not be the same as mine, but this will give you a starting point.)
Good luck!

Did my first batch of ATPLs at Guildhall (now London Metropolitan) I passed 6 out of 8. However was not entirely happy with the notes or the brush up course. I have heard that things have improved a lot recently.
Went to Bristol Groundschool for the second batch and they were able to offer help (feedback and their excellent CD) with the two resits. Passed 6 out of 6 and the two resits. Very happy with the notes and the brush up course at Bristol.
I agree that you should check out prospective training organisations thouroughly before you make a decision. Look through a sample of the notes to see if they suit you and ask about the support that's available. Be prepared for a lot of work and the odd set back. It'll be worth it in the end!
