Cool The Boeing 737

I am confused here about the type training involved here for a 37.
Maybe some folks out there can answer my questions.

If a crew have a -700NG series rating, does that mean you are authorized to operate either a -600 or -800 series? Or must you do a difference course for every type?

Plus talking about non-NG, as in the 300 to 500 series. My question here again refers to whether the crew must do a difference course for the differenty type he will be operating?
Let's assume the -300 is a EFIS type rating.

Thanks and I hope some of you can clear up the confusion in me.

halo ,indeed if you hold a -700-rating,than a difference course is not required to fly the -600 or -800,same thing if you have a -300 rating than you can also fly the -400 or -500 series. But you will need to convert via a difference course from 300/400/500-series if you want to fly the NG's.(600-700-800)

Mmm. I'm not so sure. My licence says B737-300-900, however my rating insert in the licence states -700. If I want to fly any other vasriant then I need to pass an OPC/LPV on that variant anf thus get a new entry on my ratings insert stating that variant. Before I do that there must be a diff course, even if it's just a few hours g/s followed by a few more in the sim.

But yes, 300/500 to NG would definately require a diff course.

Interested to hear what others say.

Typically you do Ground school for the 300 efis model and then Sim of 8/9 sessions on the same. A short differences course and a couple of extra sims on the 700 or 800 gives you from 3/4/5/6/7/8/900 on your licence. Base Training is usually done on the 300 and you should not have to repeat it for the NG.
Interestingly, here at Astraeus Towers, we are just about to start NG only type ratings at customer's request.
If you show up and want to buy a rating however, it will initially be the 300 efis. Hope this helps.

Cool

Hi

What about the -200?

Have just been offered a position on the 737-200 ... will I need to do another full type-rating course to upgrade to the -300...900 or is there an abbreviated course?

Thanks
JD

Hate to disagree with Aztruck but...

If you do a conversion course on a 737-300 your licence will be stamped 737-300/900.

However, an operator will require you to have experience on the relevent variant. If you have completed a -300/400/500 conversion, you will require an OPERATOR's difference course to operate the NG series (700/800/900)

The 737-200 is now deemed to be a different type and requires a conversion course , even if you have the 737-300/900 on your licence.

Hi guys again!

My friend wanted to know now since he has a -700 rating, would it be possible for him to look for work on a -300/-400 model? Or does he have to do an exact -300/400 course to be fully qualified?

Thanks for those who have answered.. I will forward these comments to my friend.

Cheers
