Assess your performance.....
Evening all,
Typical question on application forms looks for you to write in your own words what you think your performance was on your last base check or initial instrument rating was.
A couple of questions please:
Is an IR Renewal considered a base check?
Also, what sort of answer are they looking for? Clearly we can all bleat on about what a great ILS we flew etc, but is this really what they are looking for?
Any advice gratefully received.

From: varies, depending on the night before!
I don't know the right or wrong answer, but ...............
I would imagine that the assesor is not ultimatly concerned whether it is your last base check / IR / or IRR (the most recent would suffice). What they will be looking for is how you critique yourself. Lets face it no-one is going to fly the perfect ILS / NDB etc, etc. Are you honest enough to acknowledge your faults/ mistakes that were made, and how you dealt with them. When I answered this question I tried to think back to what my instructers used to de-brief me (particularly the IR examiner). I would advise you not to go into too much detail. Keep it brief, factual, and too the point. If necessary write it under seperate headers ;
Departure
Airways
ILS
Engine failure
etc
Remember they may ask you to describe the same flight in the ineterview, so try not to exagerate
.
Sounds like a question off the CTC form? Hope this helps, good luck.
