I heard that you need 1000TT and turboprop time will be advantage. Some ex CAP 509 guys have got in with a few hundred hours. I think an ICAO licence will be acceptable but I don't know what licence they prefer, if any. I didn't know that CX had a online application form. I thought they did things the traditional way?
Remember that the current atmosphere at CX for new joiners is less than 'cosy' due to the IFALPA recruitment ban that is in force. I have seen a copy of the standard letter sent from the HK Aircrew Officers Association that is sent out to new joiners and it is worrying reading! The word 'scab' is mentioned and elaborated upon in a rather strong context!

That's interesting MG ... because as you are no doubt aware, whenever the 's' word is mentioned over on the FH forum, all the AOA members get on their moral high horse and rush to make posts claiming that the DFO is the only one who's ever used the word in association with the dispute.
Or could it be that you have not only seen this alleged letter, but had a part in writing it as well?
Just because the FH forum mod has stamped on you AOA guys posting veiled threats against new joiners, doesn't mean you should start doing it in all the other forums instead
Britishguy, there is a 'sticky' thread at the top of the fragrant harbour forum that should answer all your questions. Have a look about in there for some postings about the recruitment ban as well, and make your own mind up.

There is still an IFALPA recruitment ban at Cathay - in fact, they even had banner ads here explaining why a few months back. I've a feeling that cadet entries may have been exempt, but I can't be sure about that - check the Fragrant Harbour forum. As for the requirements, I believe that the criteria are heavily weighted toward local pilots (not unreasonably), but I'm sure Cathay's website will tell you more.
And please, chaps, leave the bad-mouthing, insults and threats out of Wannabes, thank you.

1000 hrs? Fuggetaboutttit.
The S/O's that I have been flying with have had anything from 5000 hrs (lowest) to 12000+. Yes, TWELVE THOUSAND. Remember 9/11?

Its scary reading with the hours that you mention. none the less have I been asked to come to an interview with only 1000+ hours. Can you give me a good reason for that?
