ICAO to JAR IR conversion again. (MEP privileges)
Hi,
I will be doing the JAR MEP and FAA IR in the next month or so and will be converting it on returning to the UK.
My question is, if I don't do the JAR MEP but instead do the full FAA ME/IR will I receive the JAR MEP class rating when I do the 15 hour conversion course and flight test or do I have to do this separately?
Thanks,
FIS.

When I converted my FAA CPL/IR/ME to JAR last spring I had to take the MEP skills test separately from my IR test but I did combine it with the 170A check. I was exempt from taking any groundschool or exam for the MEP because I had several hundred hours of ME previously. I suspect if you dont have any multi experience then you will have to take the groundschool and exam for the MEP class rating.

You'll have to get the ME rating separately. However, the UK have relaxed the JAA rules slightly and, if you hold an FAA ME rating with not many hours ME you'll need training at the discretion of the CFI plus the ME skills test and then your 15 hours min for the IR course.
