Did anyone sit PoF @ Oxford this morning?
I'd be most interested to find out if there were any empty seats.
I was sent 100 miles down the road to Gatwick and had to deal with the M25 rush 'hour' traffic.
Thanks CAA!

A mate of mine was sent to Glasgow, which was most annoying as he lives in Crawley AND he found out to his disgust that there were loads of spare tables at Gatwick.
These ATPL exams are an expensive annoyance, and seem to be more to do with keeping civil servants in jobs that flight safety.
See this thread in tech log for example, my favourite bit is Zeke's comment:
- this just about says it all.
When I seize the machinery of government, the CAA will be near the top of my 'correction' list.

The trick question is how in JAR does this improve delivering passengers and freight to the destination safely.

From the CAA email postmaster in response to a query I submitted:
An utterly disgraceful response! Particularly considering their website - whilst no doubt cost £1000's of our money to build - is like a bl00dy labyrinth
Emails received where answers can be found on the website may not be answered in all cases.

bloody CAA...
I have little respect for these incompetent, self-serving idiots.
I can only guess they've got away with it for so long because no one wants to rock the boat

Redwings... What you doing on your PC? You should be preparing for Monday.
Gin Slinger.... When you coming? Call me next week, Actually just use my name.
Had a friend sent to Glasgow and there were spare seats at LGW in May!

I wouldn't worry about rocking the boat with the CAA. I mean, what are they gonna do about it -- mail your logbook back to the wrong address? send us to Glasgow to sit exams? issue extortionate fee demands? take a very long time to respond? allow UK jobs to be filled with foreign aircraft/crews? It's not like they don't comprehensively screw us all already...

The Commander:
Yes, the facilities at Gatwick are good...perhaps too good, considering the exorbitant fees we pay to support it.
What peeves me is being sent there, which either involves a 3 hour drive through the morning rush hour (hardly ideal preparation for an exam), or having to overnight in the locale (hardly cheap near LGW), despite spare seats being available at an exam centre not more than 10 minutes from my front door.
You've obviously been lucky with your exam bookings, out of my four sittings, I've only once got my first choice, and twice been sent somewhere I hadn't nominated at all.
