Question Anyone got a job this hiring season?

This autumn was always going to be an acid test of airline recovery, as it is the first traditional airline hiring season of the post-September 11th 2001 airline recovery. And that season is nearly over now.

As always, many people know someone who's got a job, but we've not heard much on pprune first hand. If you've managed to get a job, I'm sure you're too busy flying to bother with ppruning, but come on, put all of us unemployed folks out of our misery and tell us who you are and your licence/experience/background!!!

cheers!

OK Foggy, I`ll start it off.
Got a job with an air taxi outfit just recently (actually posted it before, but what the h...) and expect to begin flying shortly. I`ve got a CPL/IR/MEL with 1000 hours total - most of which is from instructing in the States.

And to possibly bring some more hope to the wannabes section I can mention that I have 2 more job offerings on the table, but so far I do not know when those respective positions will be in effect.

Some of you guys might be thinking to yourself that FOAL has some other qualifications that the rest of us don`t have. Not true at all! What it comes down to is being at the right place at the right time, having a reference within the company, updating your application/CV regularly, and of course having the minimum hours. Also, don`t limit yourselves by saying that you only want to work in Europe - there are jobs elsewhere in the world, and a lot of those places will accept or validate your licenses.

Anyone else?

Good luck to all, and of course I`ll keep posting on pprune.

the fogster

aren't you a freshly qualified FIC now and about to get a job yourself - or have your plans changed.

the only people I know who've got jet jobs are thru ctc, and i know there is great demand for fic courses at the moment.

don't forget the easyjet offer of £23,000 if you've got 500 hours!

what would the communists make of it?

Hallo Bob,

Not quite got the FIC yet - as I'm trying to hold down a (non-aviation) job to pay back the nice man at the HSBC, I'm struggling to get a test booking - hopefully in the next few weeks!

With any luck I'll be going instructing as soon as the instructor hiring season starts in the spring...

cheers!

Foggy ... nothing to do with the topic ... but I'm just wondering w.r.t. your sig, how did you manage to get your IR on Sept 12th? I thought every plane in the UK was grounded on that particular day ...

Planes dont need to be flying to get the CAA to 'issue' your IR at Licensing.

Luke,

Max has got it: I passed the IRT was on September 6th, I visited our good friends at the Belgrano on the 12th to get the IR added to my licence (and my car got a very thorough search). I was going to go on the eleveth, but I was glued to the TV....

cheers!

This is a great initial post that should really deserve its own permanent standing as a sub-Forum post for Wannabees

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it can give alot of hope to all Wannabees to see how often fellow wannabees do actually get jobs and with whom and with what hours. I'm sure this list can go on too!

I look forward to hopefully reading many 'success' posts on this thread......

Cheers,
