FAA CPL/ATP which school/acadamy?
I'm planning on doing my CPL in the States very shortly but am struggling to find a flying training establishment that (i)can offer the course I want when I want. & (ii)hasn't been slagged off!
As you will appreciate there is a lot of money at stake here and I'll only get one shot at this so I need a reputable company.
My shortlist so far has been:
(1) Embry-Riddle, no-go because the course starts Sept 10 and I don't have my visa yet.
(2) Pan Am International Flight Acadamy, not sure on this one, heard it had gone bankrupt a few times.
(3) Flight Safety Acadamy, I was told this had a reputation of treating it's students poorly.
(4) Phoenix East Aviation, sent them an e-mail last week but not heard a thing yet... any comments??
With over 800 FTO's in the States it could take some time to find a good one at this rate, so any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Thank fo that GB much appreciated.
I don't suppose you know about "green cards" do you? Would an airline such as Delta offer employment to a non US national so that a work permit may be issued? or would they just seek to employ persons already holding a permit?
Many thanks once again

Word of warning mate Comair is a s***hole...there are plenty of students and instructors at Pan am who got fed up with the place. Word is, its bad news. However...LOOK at wherever you plan on going before showing up.

have you considered anglo american aviation in san diego?
i have been with them since last year, i now have my faa cpl/ir and will be instructing shortly for them to build hours to the 1500 required for the atpl.
the atmosphere is very relaxed with an active social life. check out the web site at www.flyaaa.com. give them a call and speak to john or chris.

My advice is what ever Flight school you go to is never pay a flight school 100% for your flight training, pay as you go.
As always get it in writing of how much it is going to cost you and what training they will provide.
And if you don't have a Greencard, i'd forget about Flying for Comair. The won't hire you with out it.
One School i've heard some good reports is the Sheffield School Of Aeronautics @ FXE in Ft.lauderdale. Our Challenger 600 is sometimes parked near there offices, plus some of there Instructors are " Career Instructors" with very high time. and they have been in business for 53yrs in this area.
I'm not recommending them to you, but i think you should aleast look into it.
Good luck

Go with the tried and true such as ERAU or Flight Safety. If you go to ERAU then make sure you do it at CATER in Deland, Florida to avoid the hordes of student pilots at ERAU. I've read really good things about Wrightway Aviation in Daytona. www.wrightwayaviation.com
Stay away from ATA - airline training academy in Orlando. Deceiving foreign pilots has been the cause for a few lawsuits which ATA has lost.
If it sounds too good to be true then it is.
Good luck

See what Naples,FL has to offer - I received my CPL/IR from them and really enjoyed the course. The web page is out of date but they are updating it:www.naples-air-center.com
Much smaller than the main names but everyone knows who everyone is. Plus your schedule is individualised without the big schools inflated prices. They can get you a Visa too.

You need a "Green" (It's pink and blue) Alien Registration Card AND a Social Security Card to be considered for permanent employment. No company can legally employ you without proof of legal residence. If you have a student visa you can qualify for a temporary work permit to help subsidize your living/education expenses. No U.S. airline will sponser aspiring foreign pilots in immigration matters.
