Cpr-5?

I was having a look through a flight equipment website for a Crp-5 and came across the lavishly titled 617 Aviat, which is basically a suped up Cpr-5 (having wind triangle solutions, conversions and being metal).

Now I was wondering, is this worth the extra money? Will I be forever branded as having all the gear and no idea if i get one of these? Or am I better of with your bog standard good ol' white plastic Cpr-5 (which is a good 50 notes cheaper)?

If you are going to do ATPLs get a CRP-5. Great piece of kit (I have had 4 different flight computers, including a metal one, the Pooleys is the best) and the one the answers are calculated on! Never known them to actually break, and if you lose the screws they give you replacements.

Never used mine once in anger after passing the ATPLs.

Just go for the pooleys one, without sounding like your mum you are spending enough money as it is.........

I'd also say go for the CRP-5.

It does everything you need in the exam. It's the one the instructors will use in groundschool, so if you're using something different it might be more difficult for you to follow. And you'll never use it again after the exams, so who cares how many extra functions it has?

You'll also find that the questions are worked out on a CRP-5.

Take two different types of whizz wheel and work out a wind problem and I can almost guarantee you'll get two different answers.

Might be a good idea to stick with the CRP-5.

I just paid £30 inc postage for a 2nd hand one. Came with it's cover and instruction book too. Was offered another for £35 inc.
