Cheap integrated ATPL course in MAD
Has anybody heard of a company called Aerofan in Madrid? I hear that they are offering an integrated ATPL course for around 45,000 euros. They are supposed to be competing with Airmed in Valencia and supposedly offer the same all-inclusive package for a cheaper price?
I have been trying desperately to find a decent school like this and only came across it by doing a search on the spanish lycos site.
Is there anybody else in the same position?
Have you found any other schools (in Europe as travelling to USA can be expensive and lack of quality etc etc etc)?
Would you be interested in Aerofan (i dont want to be the only english speaker there!!!)?
Most courses start in September and i need to make a decision as soon as possible. Please help.

Seems like a bad idea.
There is a big difference between being taught in English and being taught by an English speaker.
You are talking about a new school with no record to judge. A bad idea even if it is cheap.
Multiflight in Leeds have been advertising an ATPL for £30,000. I won't advocate it as I know too little about it. HOWEVER, you would be taught in English by UK citizens. Your classmates would speak your language. The organisation has a track record of several years with a list of satisfied customers.
Sounds like a much better bet to me.
Good luck,

After reading your previous posts you know as well as i do that people who are not rich or find it hard to afford these courses are mostly interested in the price. You are right to a certain degree, but listening to all the complaints about weather, CAA and flying in the UK it is very tempting. This school seems to have a good repututation in Madrid and is one of the larger schools (a friend has assured me of this as he lives currently in Madrid). He also stated that the teachers are fluent in english and have qualifications to prove this. It is a little daunting but for the price, quality and area i dont think that i will come across anything cheaper, do you?

I have never heard of this school - just make sure you do lots of research.
As I said, a £30k ATPL course can be had with a UK FTO.
Good luck,

Re: English ATPL in Spain?
I took my ATPL at Aeromadrid, perhaps the most serious school together with American Flyers, both at Cuatro Vientos, Madrid.
But in Spanish...they were talking about courses in English, but there are few teachers who could teach in real English. I teach at AEROTEC in Malaga, Engines and flight planning, and I try to teach my students both with spanish and FAA books.....
Anyway, think about expenses, flights home....probably its not worth comming here

This school is also in Cuatro Vientas. I phoned them yesterday and spoke to an english person who explained the course and prices to me. They offer an all-inclusive package just like the one in the states with Comair but also can exclude anything that the student doesnt want e.g if you want to pay for housing then they will reduce the price and so on. They are currently in the process of updating their internet site into english (www.aerofan.es or www.aerofan.com) and the prices are very good compared to the others. They offer english teachers and help in any other matters just like Airmed in Valencia. I have compared the two schools (www.airmed.es and Aerofan) and it seems that Aerofan offer the same (swimming pool, restaurant, nice areas for relaxing etc)with less students so more personal attention and (sorry to repeat myself) at a cheaper price.
I think Aerofan has got my vote.

However one thing I might add, unless my pidgeon spanish is very bad the web site indicates the course takes 2 years. I know this debate always raises it's head but jerez is only 60 weeks. With this influx of seemingly cheap places to gain a fATPL does anyone think £53k is too much to pay now?

FTO at Madrid
Dear friend, these are the flight schools you can find in madrid
AEROMADRID, AEROFAN, AIRMAN, AEROTEC and AMERICAN FLYERS. Of all of them the best ones are Aeromadrid and American Flyers, probably the last one is the best.
As I am seeing that you do not know Madrid let me talk you about the place, I´ve been flying a lot over there and my brother is flight instructor at Aeromadrid.
On winter expect fog every morning till 1200 hours, thats if it is not raining. So forget about flying too many hours on winter. On summer expect 40°C daily!!!!
You will need a car to get to cuatro vientos as there is no buses or underground over there. The house renting is expensive, not as UK but expect to pay 200 pounds/month for a room.
The good thing about AEROFAN is faster than the others, it does not mean that they are the best.
I f you need more info let me know

ATPL training in English at Malaga
Hi guys
there is a flight school at Malaga, that is going to start soon ATPL courses in English. Ground and flight Instructors have JAA and FAA licenses and lot of experience. Nice place over there. Lot of ILS, good weather and the guys at the school are really nice. They have a brand new Cheyenne 400 SIM for their MCC course.

the name of the school is Aerotec, they have offices also at Madrid, Mallorca, Tenerife island and so... you can get up to A-320 MCC done at IBERIA simulators with real IBERIA captains instructors doing the trainning.
If you need more info let me know, they are working now on the English web site, it is still in Spanish, but take a look.
For the training there are 3 schools at malaga but none of them in English, this will be the first.
For everyone info, right now only AEROMADRID at Madrid is taking courses in English (, and the people on that "only" course is from sweden. "TAKE CARE WHAT OTHERS SCHOOLS TRY TO SELL YOU!!!"

A word of advice here:
I have trained in Spain, visited several schools, and I can say that without any doubt, Airmed is the school to choose.
Aeromadrid is a bunch of cowboys and organisation is just Mayhem.
Aerofan is based in Quatrovientos airport which has NO IFR capabilities, is plain dangerous due to overcongestion and ATC only in Spanish, has no commercial traffic. Aerofan pretends to be good but in fact is unknown in Spain.
Airmed certainly has its problems, but overall, they offer a good training in an airline environment, have nice equipment and training is finished on their OWN Airbus STD3A A320 sim with Iberia instructors and Iberia procedures.
Swiss will do their training at Airmed in the future ,by the way, so that does say something about the quality...:cool
Now, contrary to mr. Brown, the Aerofan rep., and Javier, I do not work for any school, just did my training in Spain so I do know what I am talking about.
by the way, MCC is expected to be done on a JET nowadays... only way to enter the main companies...

Now, now... Easy tiger!!! Nobody is trying to knock any other schools down here. Each and every school in Spain have opinions on how they are better or can offer more stuff than the others. My advice to anybody wanting to do any training in Spain is to check the schools out in which you are interested in and maybe visit them before signing anything if possible. Find out as much information as possible on each of them. If you are really serious about your future career then write down a few questions that you find important and ask the schools to answer each one of them. By looking around this forum i am sure you will come up with quite alot.
However, some of the rumours flying about these forums do indeed prove to be true (and of course some false. Not trying to say that anybody is telling porkies). At the end of the day it takes alot of money to become a (good) qualified pilot so check everything out before letting go of that cash.
Thats all.
Mr Brown
