Question Bristol V's OATS

People,

Just a quick post to try and decide which distance learning course to opt for. I have narrowed it down to these two options and would like some informed opinion as to which one to select. I am planning on starting next week.

Would also be keen to hear your home study timetables i.e. how much time a week for study.

Cheers for any responses.

Both are good. Both have good instructers. Some people fail at both. Most pass. One costs a lot more than the other.

They are both the same cost approx £2000. But what are the opinions on quality of notes, revision courses etc. Come on, I know loads of you have used these schools.

Hi
I've been doing some research and remember a thread about this some weeks ago. The general opinion appears to be that Bristol is the absolute tops. OATS have great notes and I believe good success rates but their marketing department told me that the £2000 'special offer' will probably end this summer. So if you want it, be quick about it. I personally though don't want to pay OATS any money at all because they're soooo unhelpful.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up

Abosolutely with EGDR. I did the course with Bristol: brilliant notes & CD ROM, fantastic instructors, very helpfull, I passed first time ( ) Of course this is my personal & subjective opinion.

The only reference I have about OATS was a peer student who attended our course for a couple of days: this person had been with OATS and didn't know the difference between QNH, QFE & Standard Pressure: I wondered how this wasn't noticed by the instructors at OATS

On the other hand I'm sure there're lots of ex-OATS with very positive experiences as well.

Don't expect a definitive answer to your question, at the end of the day, remember this is only a forum where people (at the best) tell the story the way they lived it.

Good luck!

Well sounds like overwhelming support for Bristol. I must admit I was favouring these guys anyway, simply for the fact that this is what they specialise in, where as OATS may have other priorities.

Thanks for the responses, keep them coming if you will!

Wink

I have no experience of OATS but would recommend Bristol to everyone. Notes well written, prompt response to questions, great advice and they are a dedicated ATPL centre so where do you think their focus will be ???

Keep it up Bristol !!
