Doing your PPL before applying for the KLM academy or not ::

Perhaps strange question. My son wants to be a pilot. But his CV is a bit empty relating to flying. He did a bachelor Business Admin at the University of Florida and is now doing a Master in Management in The Netherlands.

But he told us two months ago he want to become a pilot. I advised him to get in the summer months his PPL, The 3 months summer break will be sufficient to get this and is a nice holiday if he likes flying. Then once he then is still sure he likes it he should apply with Dutch KLM in September.

But I now start to doubt a bit if KLM might not want people who already have a PPL because they might then not fit the class who when I see the youtube movies on that school are all very proud when they do their first solo flight.. He might has then too much "experience".. But my son already has his PPL... Will he then might not be a good fit. That is the reason I start to doubt if his PPL is clever or not. I think the positive side is that he then is 100% sure he likes it. And it show the KLM he is really motived. Which is also less risk for KLM..

Any idea's from professional pilots what they suggest ??

And what will he want to be next month? I'm guessing he just spent a load of your money getting two degrees? Neither of them are required to be a pilot and would have cost more than a fATPL.

Trust me, he's not really interested. If he was he would be making this post instead of you.
