737 Type Rating
I am a modular student that is looking to do a self-sponsored TR on the 737 the in the coming fall.
There seems to be plenty of companies that provides it but alot of it looks dodgy. Many seems to be mere brokers or subcontractors where sim training is done elsewhere, pricing is unclear and base training is "scheduled separately"
Is there any reputable provider that you recommend that provides the full package with Base training. If the price is decent that is a plus.
Regards

If you’re that determined to shell out for a job apply to RYR where at least you’ll be set up with a job after handing over 30k or whatever they charge these days.

Self sponsored TRs look dodgy because they are (and a TR without 500 hours on type is rarely any use anyway).

The charter outfits where I'm from prefers type rated candidates, and many usually go the route via RYR. For me funds is not a great concern due to a very cheap training route so far.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an organization that can provide both sim + base training?

Unless you have a job offer, a TR with no hours is not going to help you and will potentially hurt you. Please don't make the mistake of thinking that type-rating=competency, it does not. There's a reason most airlines don't take cadets! Trust me, when you get your first type rating you will know next to nothing about the aircraft, the bare minimum. It will take 1000 hours just to start getting comfortable. If you turn up to an assessment with a TR and no experience you are going to really struggle. If you are non type rated you will generally have an basic assessment to include some manual handling and maybe an ILS: you will be compared to your peers. If you are type rated they will expect a far higher level of competency (think engine failures etc), and you will be compared to people with 1000s of hours in the aircraft.
