Assuming we’re talking about Aeros Gloucester, I did my CPL / IR with them and found the entire outfit to be friendly, professional and spot-on with course delivery. There was a healthy mix of cadets, part timers and hours builders and it appeared to be delivering well on all levels. The instructors, both air and ground studies, were again really friendly and great at what they do. Good luck folks!

They seem to be a well managed outfit, I've not heard anything particularly bad. No other outfits like this left in the UK as the rest have either been bought up or gone bust.

Although with all schools, their prices are slowly creeping up, now not far off the cost of an integrated course at the bigger schools. Also note the "under 100k" marketing has quietly disappeared.

I hear they have some issues with aircraft airworthiness but seems rather minor considering the fleet availability.

Thanks for the write up. As has been said on this forum before you can very easily get full modular done in about 60k, very much so under 100k if you pick and choose especially going abroad for parts of the training.

I'm also interested in Aeros, specifically Leeds, I wonder if the extra cost vs smaller schools is worth it, better aircraft? Better chance of getting a job?

Would recommend - it’s a good ATO

Aeros at Leeds East is a friendly place, would recommend. It’s the smaller of the Aeros sites, but always has at least a DA42 and DA40.

The benefit of being with Aeros is that they have an extensive fleet, so if any tech issues arise they quickly sort it and another a/c arrives. This is a luxury that most of the smaller schools likely don’t have.

It’s handy that the AL42 Sim is also on site so everything is centralised and the instructors IMO are top notch, really knowledgeable guys from varied flying backgrounds.

In terms of job offers later down the line they are one of the leading modular organisations. They have a good reputation with a lot of operators so it’s a safe bet when they see it on your CV. Certainly a good start when you’re trying to get your foot in the door compared to a smaller school.

I’m currently exploring options and weighing up the possibility of doing PPL, CPL ME(IR) all at Retford Gamston which is very close to me, but the worry is they may not have the links that Aeros do.

Aeros does look good though quite a bit more cost wise than your other modular providers. Do we think there is value in doing the ppl and hour building close to home then moving across to Aeros for the remainder for a best of both worlds approach?

I also used to fly out of there when it was EFTS Church Fenton so now the site and area pretty well.

I think that’s a good idea. They’ll certainly look after you and get you through. And like you say, having good links is what’s it’s all about in this game. Saving cost while good, might end up short changing you later on.

A lot of people seem to do what you’ve suggested above, starting from the MEP onwards with them. I did too.

Aeros fast track atpl

Hi ,
Thinking about doing the Fast Track modular course here. Does anyone have any information about this school , good or bad ? Also , are modular cadets still not as attractive to airlines?
