Thats a bit confusing to grasp at first but let me see if I got the whole terminology right

Is there any way an FSDO can exempt me from having to take that sim time for the ATP-CTP? From my research, the CTP consists of 30hr theory and 10h sim time. I have 2000h on the A320, thus the question...

About the checkride, I could indeed do 2 sim sessions and the checkride if thats all it takes (unless I could "self-propose" to the checkride straight away using time on type as that would save me a few thousands in sim time, which would be even better).

How about the SEL that I already have? Would I be restricted to SEL Commercial only?

Thanks for taking the time!!

Nope. You need the ATP CTP in order to take the ATP written exam. Its daft, but when the regulation was written no one considered foreign multi crew experience, they just gave a 2 year grace period. There is still no multi crew requirement for an ATP certificate.

If you can find somewhere that can do the CTP and has an A320 sim, ask if you can do the CTP course in the A320 focusing specifically on preparing for the an ATP/Type Rating checkride in the sim. It would be silly to pay for 10 hours in a Regional Jet, then turn right around and pay for more simulator time.

Google "atp ctp a320" and you will find several places that do the ATP CTP course and A320 type ratings. I agree that it's silly your 2,000 hours in the 'Bus are not enough to exempt you. But, there's still a chance you will learn something, and it's a great prep for the TR.

Good luck.
