Query on Licence

Hello there,

I got all my licences and sadly didn't get a job, so went back to 1st choice career and renewed my licence last year, its up for renewal again in October, medical due this month and

1) I hear there has been an extension on medicals and licences until the end of November, is that correct?
2) Reality is that I am not going to get a job for maybe 2 years (if ever) am I silly to let my licence and medical lapse and renew it when ready to pick it up again?
3) Or better to renew each year, I hear there is some new bits required as well, what are these?

Many thanks,

Your Class One medical although valid for a year, reverts to a Class 2, for a further year assuming still young.
A renewal of a Class One can be done by an AME up to five years from the initial issue date.

As for the flying, this is a person choice and best discussed with an ATO.
Keeping your single engine flying current is another option?

One thing is for certain, when the green shoots appear, you will not only need to have a current CPL (ME/IR), but also renew your MCC skills in a suitable device, as any airline interview will invariably include a simulator assessment as PF & PM.
