Ambiguity in Holding Pattern Entry

Hi Friends,

With most approaches, the MAP is well defined. Occassionally however, the entry into the holding pattern is precisely at the border of either direct / parallel or parallel / teardrop entry.
Assuming ATC says nothing or gives you a generic instruction to hold, is the hold entry then at pilot's discretion?

e.g. at LFAQ (Albert) I would choose a parallel entry and at EBKT (Kortrijk) I would go for direct entry, but do I have that choice?

Any pointers at some AMC references would be welcome.

Thanks,

PP.

From PANS OPS Doc 8186:

1.3.1
The entry into the holding pattern shall be according to heading in relation to the three entry sectors shown in Figure IV-1-3, recognizing a zone of flexibility of 5 ̊ on either side of the sector boundaries. For holding on a VOR intersection, the entry track is limited to the radials forming the intersection. For holding on a VOR/DME fix, the entry track is limited to either the VOR radial, DME arc, or alternatively along the entry radial to a VOR/DME fix at the end of the outbound leg, as published
