Unhappy

Didn't get through. Gutted. Apparently I hadn't shown enough motivation in the last two years. Maybe that is right and it gives me something to work towards for the next interview but it is the opposite to how I feel. What was your feedback?

Cool

Yeah similiar feedback. Not enough motivation shown although I would of thought paying £300 odd quid for two days selection when I could have saved it towards a ppl, would show motivation??

Also not enough leadership shown in the group exercise (a tricky thing to do when you've got 5 others in the same position as you!).

Oh well lots of things to work on for next year. It was a good experience though and the people running it clearly knew what they were doing and were very professional experienced selectors.
I did think that it looked like an excellent scheme, which makes not getting into it even more gutting!!

I too was impressed with the whole setup and very disappointed not to make it.

Question

Hi Guys,
I am new to the site and am very interested in trying to get on an ATPL course. Having searched the archive section I have found loads of great information for BA, Aer Lingus etc. This site is a fantastic source of info! I also read the previous EPST threads for the compass testing and that if I am correct this is followed by a selction day and a simulator test. What do these days involve? Are they similar to those for BA etc. as detailed in the archives and what are the selectors looking for? Any info gratefully received,
Thanks very much,
Beakcam

Hi Kula!

Well I am delighted to say that I did get selected.... I've had plenty of false starts and disappointments over the last couple of years, but finally persistence has paid off. Not really sure what I did right, and must admit to being surprised not to see you at the simulator session on the Friday. The simulator was about 45 mins of flying level, turning, turning and climbing etc....

Obviously, being lucky enough to get through, I would say that EPST seems a very professional and friendly organisation. But the fact is they took an interest in all of us, and were extremely candid and open about what they thought was best for us. I feel really privileged to have got through and am going to give it everything.

Best of luck, I have no doubt you'll make it.

Cool

Congratulations Dexy, you must be on a high right now!

I can't quite place your face though? Which room were you in for the group discussion, main room or smaller room? What about the tower build? I was in the group discussion in the smaller room, and the main room for the tower build.

How many from that day do you know who got through to the sim day??

Right, I'm going to sound a right doughut here but can someone please tell me what the reqs were for this scheme and when the recruitment was for it? I can't believe I missed out on an opportunity like this. Was it one of those where you needed a PPL before applying?

I feel like I need to also add my doughnutdom to this.

Who what and why is EPST? Is it the Europilot Program or have I just made myself look even more clueless about it?

If i've missed out on something here......

Monkeyboy,
Shell out £600 or so to these guys, take a few tests and if you are the lucky lottery 1 guy in 200 that they choose randomly then you will get through. Then you will start training and be saddled with a £60,000 loan all of which will need to be paid back.

My advice is steer well clear, if you are going to make it you certainly do not need some jerk telling you how great you were in the tests, but unfortunately you should apply again next year.

You have it in yourself to make it happen.
They must be raking it in, blimey.

fish

Yeah but come on, as I've said again and again if you're gonna self-fund then at least a scheme such as this a sure way of finding out if your truely the airline type and getting a job. All the protection you are given via the contingency fund, in my opinion, makes the extra test fee's worth it. I.E. if you fail for a ligitimate reason even after getting through the selection, they cover your loan repayments and you dont!!! Thats a large plus point.

Bow5/Monkeyboy ... now the search option is back do a search for EPST or my username Skysoarer and you'll find my postings about them; then come up with your own opinion independant of those here.
