Computer aptitude tests

Is anyone aware of any downloadable computer aptitude test/s of a similar nature to those used by airline and ATC recruitment departments in assesing spatial/situational awarness etc? And where they might be got. Or are there any computer games that practice on might help?

hmmm, now this sounds familiar...
I did put up a posting a few months back regarding "Anyone interested in a compass-type test program?"; I got one reply. I had been considering writing one in Java...
But this gave me time to think about it and I thought... The test(s) is meant to check for natural aptitude and any prior practice for those kinds of tests would bias the result, especially if the tests were the same/very similar.
-- Then again, if the test were to be done once/twice without practice and the program gave a result along with marks from other people you could get an idea of your ability without forking out for the test fee... HOWEVER for the money involved, doing the actual test would be far more worthwhile.
Flying experience above 150hrs does apparently bias the result anyway, but preparing to falsely do very well at a specific aptitude test is only kidding yourself so its use would have to be minimal.
If enough people think there is a need let me know via my email address or post here and I'll write one in Java ... for the net maybe.
THEREFORE, I'd appreciate any views on this subject. I shall post a separate topic containing this message.

The RAF have come up with some 'games' on their careers site, which are based on their actual aptitude tests, just with a slightly different format.

Alright Harry,
They always say that doing computer games does not help. That said I refuse to believe that my playing Perfect Dark and Goldeneye on the N64 didn't help my reactions. Getting a feel for how small hand movements will affect something moving on screen must be slightly adventageous. But then maybe the learning part is more important. As long as you show improvement on the day and all that...

I havn't found any computer based tests yet. I have however been practising paper based aptitude tests, so if anybody wants some recommendations for books on the subject I'd be happy to share my thoughts on the books I've bought. My short term memory seems to leave a bit to be desired. Oh well I suppose I can work on that.
Skysoarer commented that 150hrs flying experience biases the result. So theoretically I suppose that practice on MS flight simulator can only help. By the way Skysoarer I'd love to try any program you might write. I agree that it might bias the result in the respect that it might not give as true a picture of your aptitude in this area but it does show something else - that is initiative and motivation for the job. Since there is no rule against such use of programs and everyone is entitled to further their chances of aquiring the job why weaken your position by not practising for aptitude tests?
