Question Anyone got interview questions?

I'm trying to put together a database of typical interview questions. Has anyone got anything to add. Any contributions greatly appreciated.

When you get some, would you mind emailing me them?

Thanks.

What do you know of this company?
Why did you apply to this company?
What fleet/type/engines/routes does this company have?
Have you had any incidences/accidents?
What is the difference between a centrifugal and axial compressor?
Advantages/Disadvantages of the above?
Given a whiz wheel and asked to solve questions on it.
Asked RoD calcs. ie 5x profiles, 3x profiles and so on.
Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years time?
Do you want to be Chief pilot?
How will deregulation affect this company? Slot in oil prices/dollar/pound exchange rate etc.
What is the chief pilots' name?
Who owns this company?
What is the company's history?
Where have you flown?
Why did you start flying?
What do you know of CRM?
Have you had any CRM issues?
What do you think of female pilots?
Are you planning to have any children? (I couldn't believe I was asked that.)
General knowledge type questions, pertaining to IFR operations. eg, "when can you descend below MDA" etc.
What has been your greatest achievement and why?
Why did you leave your last job?
Do you mind us calling your references?
What is this company's main competitor?
What do you know of an FO's role?
Can you handle being an FO for "x" years?
Can you handle living in "x" on an FO's wage?
Are you a member of a union?

All of these questions I or friends of mine have been asked in interviews. Jobs ranged from bush operators to international airlines.
Hope this helps.

Any chance you could e-mail me a few of yours so far? Beware of this sort of reply being asked by thousands as was the list of contact addresses which was floating around for a while (its in the archives before anybody asks).

Cheers Matey

Question

Who are our allies?
Describe a time when you have failed and what you learned from it.
Who is you best friend? - what would he/she say is your best/worst quality?
What will you do if you don't get this job?
(cutting wrists or hanging self is not a good answer to this... neither is blow up the company head-quarters)

That's just a couple that I had. Can't think of the others off hand.

Bunty.

Another goodie is..

"You are on a nightstop and have arranged with the Captain to meet for a beer. At the scheduled time there is a knock at your hotel room door, and when you open it the Captain is dressed in a floor length skirt. How would you handle the situation?"

Not easy to see the 'correct' answer in an interview situation.

How about...

What car do you drive and why?
How has flying influenced the way you drive?
What's the formula for aquaplaning?
What's 60 divided by a half?
How would you feel if I told you you could make Captain in 8 years time?
You are about to depart when you smell drink on the Captain's breath...what would you do?
Why are you interested in flying?
When did you first become interested in it?
Why not another career choice?
Have you ever taken drugs?
So you think you have a sense of humour - tell us a joke.

All sensible and logically related questions??!!

Cool

For those with interviews coming up may I suggest looking into the world of Human Resources. Each company will have a different HR point of view as to which 'type' of interview they use. There is a method to their madness and not just questions thrown willy nilly.

Is it a technical interview you are expecting. Or perhaps a behavioural interview. There is info on the net if you look. I'm certainly no expert. But I do believe it helps that you understand why they are asking certain questions and how they 'expect' you to answer them.

Is there any one out there with HR experience who can comment.

I got from BA
who are our customers
Is the customer always right?
What sets BA appart from other airlines
who are our allies?
Who are our competitors?
What alliances are they involved with?

I got from Aer Lingus
How does a dynamo work, 4 times! (Bloody bog trotting, tattie munchers)

All a bunch of dogs eggs at the end of the day really. In my experience (4FB's)they will always pull something out to throw you which you just think " what the F&*K

Best of luck

There are a lot of very varied questions here...just about covers everything.

One extra question...how have any of you answered these questions? I'm not looking to 'copy' other people's answers...more to get an idea of the types of attributes that are being assessed by the questions that are asked.

Anyone.....?
