EASA PPL USA recommended flight schools?
For (4), how can I get from 50 to 150 hours without paying that much money? For (7) your idea of doing it under the FAA is great, but I'm working full time in the UK so I'm just not sure if this is realistic for me.. spending several months in the US with unpaid leave might not be possible...

You don't need to be paying flight school prices to hour build. Check out ukga.com classifieds, there are plenty of equity and non equity shares with hourly rates as low as £60. You're allowed 30 hours in a TMG and they're even cheaper. If you work in the UK then you have at least 28 days holiday. I suggest using 4 weeks for a PPL, then another 4 weeks for IR a year later. It'll take you that long to pass the exams.
