180 hours

More Radio Nav/Instrument time/knowledge would have been useful

FAA CPL/IR and 255 hours, and was glad I had the IR experience, it made a huge chunk of air law much easier.

do you think it would be unwise for me to begin the ATPL distance learning having only just completed a PPL??

moo,

I wished I had started the groundschool after the PPL.

Now I am restricting the amount of flying I do so that I don't go too over budget.

You may decide to give it up after receiving the stack of study folders and you will only have wasted a couple of thousand pounds

Good luck

Well as for me, I had around 60 hours TT at the start (and end) of the ATPL theory. I did feel like I was the only one below 100 hours but then I like being different.

Moo...

If you've got a good head for numbers and general aircraft knowledge then I really don't think total hours matters much. As long as you can remember that an aircraft with x number of seats and y number of passengers should have z number of fire extinguishers ..... you get the idea.

Incidentally, I passed all first time with Bristol Groundschool so the hour problem couldn't have been that bad!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for replies

I take it then most people get the flying experience necessary for start of the CPL module before starting the ATPL theories.........is this by design or more by coincidence?

80 hours TT with just PPL

Hours don't matter at all, unless you have some instrument hours which will make a few of the subjects easier to grasp....

Oh, I got 13/14 first time.... proof of pudding etc etc....
