Question US training medical cover?

I just have a concern about health insurance when choosing to spend some time in the states. If I was on a J1 visa, so my stay would be approx a 18 months I would imagine getting health insurance is of importance due to hugh medical bills over there in the case of an accident.
Has anyone any info or stories on there choice of medical cover or is it included in flight schools contract or what?
Any info appreciated.

The schools that divvy out J1's have to advise students re programs to cover everyhing. It is their responsibility and they have to show that they are providing this to the USIA.

There are some pretty restricted requirements of a J1 student and the programs are hard to come by.
