JAA IR from US CPL/IR

Hi all,

If one has FAA IR and CPL and wants to optain the JAA IR, does that person first need to qualify for the JAA PPL?

Thanks,

-Jason

Question

I had always assumed that a JAA-IR could only be issued as a rating, attached to an existing JAA licence, e.g. a JAA-PPL or a JAA-CPL

I am assuming that the question relates to someone who already has a FAA-CPL+IR

Or have I misunderstood the something?

If you have a JAA PPL, the FAA just give you an FAA PPL - If you have a JAA CPL, they'll still only give you an FAA PPL - not sure about the other way around.
