I am just interested to hear what your ideas are regarding this. The modular route would be gain ppl the enrol on atpl groundschool or do ppl and hr building and have approx 150 hrs on enrolling on atpl groundschool, both much the same only difference is of course bulk of flying done either before or after groundschool. My dilemma is no matter what amount of hrs you have going into groundschool you are going to be approximately 6 months on the ground loosing those sharp and fresh skills even if you do manage a few hrs somewhere in amongst all that study. Are you really sharp enough or in any way disadvantaged taking on the cpl with a 6 month drought of flying behind you.

Well you could do the PPL first and see whether you like flying.
Then enroll on the ATPL course. This will take 6 mths if done full time and between 12 to 18 mths if Distance learning.Have the odd hour flying here and there to keep your sanity.
Then with the exams out the way, structure your hours building towards the CPL.
Take an Instructor up every 10 hrs or so,and don`t just fly round in circles.
Once hours are built you should be up to speed and ready for the CPL.
