Wink In times gone by........

I have started my flying training in Australia up to PPL and intend to continue to CPL. I returned to the UK for BA apptitude tests which are obviously not an option any more!! Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea what was (and hopefully will be) the norm for wannabies in the UK. In Aus it is the standard, tried and tested get CPL build hours until at least 1500 (minimum) turbine twin time however possible and then consider a job with an airline. It is in Aus a difficult task! I get the impression that to get a job in an airline (jet) in the UK was much easier than in Aus simply cause of the need for pilots over here (previously). Is this the case and what is the typical scenario to a typical jet airline job over here for a capable, determind wannabe? Is it worth the extra money and now the wait?

Hope someone can help!
