Aviation related degree

I am coming to a stage when I need to start thinking about university. I know that ctc and oaa both offer degrees now if you go through one of their integrated courses or airline cadet schemes, so this is defiantly an option for me. but as I have researched more I have come across some universities that offer degrees with pilots licence such as Buckinghamshire:

BA (Hons) Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training

This has slightly confused me as the fees and funding shows the standard fees of 9k a year, but that cannot surely be the case with all the flight training involved, how much more would you have to pay? And it doesn't specify what licenses you get, I suppose you wouldn't get a MCC?

The reason I don't want to enroll on a non-aviation degree is that I would most likely never use it and it seems like a waste of 3 years.

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

'Students who successfully complete all the academic modules at in their third year at Buckinghamshire New University and all the training modules will be awarded a BA (Hons) degree in Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training, plus a Commercial Pilot Licence with 'Instrument Rating' and 'Multi-Crew Co-operation Certificate' (Frozen ATPL)'

'*Please note that this is the tuition fee only and further costs are payable for the Pilot element of the programme.'

All the info is on that page.

Think about it, but don't believe either that a degree is a backup to get a job if you fail as a pilot, or that you need one to get a job as a civil pilot.

They offer foundation degrees, which is what used to be called an HNC or Higher National Certificate. It's not the same as a true honours degree.

Doesn't really matter what they call the degree its a faculty approved BSc. In the grand scope of thing pretty worthless.

And if its Middlesex Uni you could always do Dancing as one of you modules.

Before going down the tertiary education route you will have to do a lot more research.

Not all degrees are equal and not all education institutions are equal either.

The course fee's are extremely high and you have to way up what you actually get for that investment of time and money.

Personally if you really want a degree I would have a look at the ones which allow you to earn some money away from aviation.

The ones which people seem to do well with are.

Pharmacist and Optician.

Both allow you to enter into work with a relatively high income and also allow locum work.
