Unhappy funding school

I'm a college student... I have basic tuition covered fro college but the flying costs are obviously above and way beyond that. I've expired avenues for tradional loans (my parents make just barely too much money for me to get funding even though I'm independant, I'm still under 25, unmarried and have no kids so technically I'm not independent in the eyes of the gov't)

if any one has any ideas or options they've used to get funding be it scholarship or loans for aviation, I could really use your help!!!

Thank you in advance!

It seems the most popular means of getting loans for flying is to first get a Career development loan - Max £8000 payment delayed for 2 Years - To cover PPL, ATPL theory and a possibly IMC or hour building, then try to get an HSBC proffesional studies loan for the rest. (This means you have to go the modular route.)

There are training organisations that can give you good advice. And colleges such as Pilot Assist can even give you help in getting the loans.

Sponsorships seem few and far between at the moment, and normally you have to put up 10-25K, they often ask for PPL and 150hrs as a pre-requisit. But keep your eyes peeled.
There are also BA cadetships, but even when they are recruiting competition is very tough.

If you find an easy way let me know!

Good Luck.

thank you for your time, but I need to find things state-side... I know fellowships/internships are almost nonexistant, and I fall through the cracks with most scholarships, either not quite full time, not a minority, or not female... neither parent was in the armed forces or ATC... I'll try to find that "Pilot Assist" college...

Again, thanks for your time.

spudskier, this is an age old problem and it is just opening the door into pandora's box and the black hole of avation for you. I'm a captain on the canadian regional jet. It took me a long time to get to this point and I am only now starting to make money at flying. I was extremely lucky. I had parents that gambled everything on me. They took a loan on their house and life insurance to pay for my training. I don't know what else to tell you, but to ask. The road ahead of you is very long and painful, but rewarding. Don't promise to pay anyone back anytime soon. It takes about 7-10 years before you are earning anything near reasonable. ROTC is probably your best route if you can't get the cash. The military is very competitive too though.

good luck,
