heres the statement I wrote
We have all heard the statement: “If you find a career that you enjoy, then you will never work another day in your life” I believe this statement to be true to a certain extent and I have thought long and hard about what kind of career I wish to pursue. Since I was a child I have dreamed of pursuing many careers, which would make that statement true, like I have dreamed of becoming a professional snowboarder but chances are I will not fulfill that here in Alberta. But the one career that I have always paid particular attention to, and could also picture myself doing was pursuing a career in aviation. I have done lots of research on becoming a pilot and have been looking and asking questions on message boards over the internet of what being a pilot is like; lifestyle, pay, how to move up in the ranks, gain hours… etc, and it all sounds like a career I would enjoy.
My friends who have been out working seismic in the mountains this past year have told me many stories of the different planes and helicopters they were on and the pilots they were working with. I have also talked to many “bush” pilots on message boards on the Internet, and they say working out there is a great way to build hours and great life to experience. From what I have heard I will go to the necessary lengths to become a pilot.
I do not have my PPL (Private Pilot’s License) but have made arrangements with Springbank Flight Training Ltd. to call me back before June to register for their course, however I would much rather take this course at Mount Royal College. I have called the aviation department and left messages to find out how to register for this course. I haven’t been able to get talk to anyone in the aviation department and received no phone calls for the messages I left, so I figure something must be going wrong. I will hopefully soon find out how to register in this course.
When I graduate I would like to get hired on to a company somewhere here in the mountains to build hours, hopefully tourism or maybe a seismic company. I do not expect a lot of pay and know it will be hard to find the first job, from what I have heard. Those are my plans for the first couple of years after I graduate. After I build up hours and get more qualifications I plan to work for an airline and work my way up in the ranks till I eventually am a pilot in command.
I first heard about your aviation diploma after doing extensive research and reading up about becoming a pilot and asking many questions over message boards on the Internet to pilots themselves. A pilot on a message board sent me several links of flight schools in western Canada and one of them was for Mount Royal College. After comparing my options I decided to apply for this course because I could live at home and believe, and been told, that having a diploma in aviation will pay off in the long run.
I believe this program will provide me with what I need, and what I am to expect to be successful in the aviation industry. When I come out of this course I will expect to have the knowledge to be successful at my first aviation job and have the necessary qualifications and ratings to be hired on by a major airline after I have built my hours up.

As mentioned on my previous post I don't know anything about MRC. One thing however, I would certainly leave the admissions dept. with the impression that you have fully researched their (as well as others perhaps) diploma (try and get a feel for the success rate of ex-grads and where and what they are doing now) ..............but don't mention " I have called the aviation department and left messages to find out how to register for this course. I haven’t been able to get talk to anyone in the aviation department and received no phone calls for the messages I left, so I figure something must be going wrong. " ........this looks really bad (may be geniune reasons for calls not having been promptly returned), and in the same breath you are saying you want to register for their course - is that not an oxymoron !!?
Good luck.
