Atpl or cpl with instrument and multi ?

Hi guys .Since I am holding ppl , next step atpl or cpl with instrument and multi ?

Think you need to pursue the ATPL if you are wanting to join an airline.

I just had a PPL with the required hours to start the ATPL writtens the "modular way".

Once I had the exams I blasted off to the states to get the JAA CPL and more hour building before coming back to the UK to begin the IR.

If you have the written exams out of the way first, you can concentrate and enjoy the flying.

I spoke to local CAA . They said I need to have CPL to sit ATPL exams . I was thinking the same way . First sit ATPL exams then start hour building ..

Are your sure that's what they said?

You need a valid PPL to sit either to ATPL exams, or the CPL exams. Once you have the 14 ATPL subjects passed and 150 hours total time plus have met the requirements for the night rating you can start the CPL practical course. You also need couple of other bits and bobs - class 1 medical and 300nm CPL qualifier flight completed to start.

You then need 200 hours total time (including 100 P1) for license issue.

Yes besides the last post, a lot of strange replies you recieved, I am assuming most of them are not more than PPL pilots, as they should know better.

First as last post mentioned you need PPL, ATPL you only get after 1500 hours flight time, and you require a criteria of different types of hours, multi crew, night, instrument etc

But before you can do this, you need a PPL to be allowed to start on your ATPL theory exams. When ATPL theory exams (14 of them) are passed and you have the required minimum hours, you can start on CPL, ME and IR.

Upon completion of this you normally have to do a MCC before you can do a multi crew type rating.
The CPL/MEIR with ATPL theory - is commonly known as frozen ATPL - note there is no licence called frozen ATPL, but it will be unfrozen/become a full ATPL when you have fulfilled certain criteria via flight experience!

As mentioned your first step before starting paying anything, would be to go and get yourself a class 1 medical, to be sure you have this!

By the way search and read Lasors from the CAA, this gives you more reliable information than you can find here, thats for sure!

They arn't from europe, they do things different in other bits of the world.

Not good advice. LASORS is no longer valid and has been removed from the CAA website as the UK has now implemented the EU Aircrew Regulation. The replacement document is CAP 804 which is not much use in countries still operating under JAR-FCL and no use at all in the rest of the world.
