Question Is This Possible??

Hi Guys/Gals
Could someone with the appropriate knowledge please tell me whether this is at all possible:

1. PPL
2. UNIVERSITY (inc. ATPL GROUND EXAMS)
3. INTEGRATED CPL/IR
4. FI(R)

In this particular order???
FYI: I am British and am at the PPL stage.

Your help will be most appreciated as I am now re-thinking my route to the flightdeck.
Cheers, Trislander

If you went down this route you would be doing the modular thing! I could not coment about exams at uni, I am doing them at home and it takes every moment of my time.

Basically the answer is yes

All you have to do is get in touch with any of the large training organisations if you want to do a full time course, or if you are prepared to study at home like 2000v etc you may find that you will widen your scope of training facilities.

Be careful not to part with a lot of money, especially in the current climate, without cautiously checking the school out (I can only think of one place that goes under the guise of a university).

To be absolutely sure, pay for each part of your course as you go, rather than one lump sum

Without drying to dampen your enthusiasm I think it is a tall order.

University isn't all getting pissed up etc, and you will need to write essays etc and I think it would be very hard to slave over course books writing essays and then to slave over ATPL books. One of the academic disciplines might suffer. Also an important part of University is socialising and having fun. If you are in halls for your first year, you will find that you have very little spare time!!, people always inviting you out for drinks etc

Theoretically it is possible, no doubt about that but don't jeapordise the enjoyment of attending University. One skill that University does provide, is the ability to take good notes and to work on your own accord. There will be time to do ATPL's after University.

Best of luck, there is no harm in trying to do ATPL's at University but if it gets too much, don't make yourself miserable.

What is your degree going to be in?

If you are doing an engineering or CIS discipline you may find that some parts are complementary to an ATPL.

I should'nt worry about lack of time, you could show minimal attendance at lectures during the year, whilst studying for your ATPL and then after Easter swot like a b@$tard for your end of year exams - like the majority of students (the ones you'd want to drink with anyway!).

Apart from that there is the oh so long summer holidays to get lots of ATPL work, groundschool and exams in.

Also you might as well join the UAS and try to squeeze out a few free hours.

Thanks for your replys, but I think you may have misunderstood the University bit. The first year of the uni course is the academic part, and the second year is the atpl ground theory&exams. I am not looking at doing the atpl's as a side task all the way thru uni!

Thanks Tri
