I'm going to San Francisco at the end of April with my wife who has a week's work there and I would like to do some hour building. Can anyone recommend a good airport/club/school to hire from? Any advice or tips about flying in the area would be welcomed as well. Am working my way through the ATPL ground school and need a few more hours to get to the 150 mark.
Many thanks

I used Ahart aviation at Livermore www.ahart.com
The airfield is accessable from SF by public transport (BART and bus) or it would take around 40 minutes by car from the city. It has two good runways in class D airspace. Delays seemed to be minimal and there are plenty of interesting places to visit.
LVK also suffers less from fog than Oakland or San Jose, which are the other largeish training airfields around the bay area.
Email me if you would like any more info.

Try San Carlos Airport, south of SF on Highway 101: Bel-Aire International 650/596-9900; Diamond Aviation 650/591-7611. Palo Alto Airport also on Highway 101: Palo Alto Flying Club 650/494-7248; Stanford Flying Club 650/858-2200; Sundance Flying club 650/494-7769; West Valley Flying Club 650/856-2030. Oakland Airport (across the Bay from San Francisco: Oakland Flyers 888/310-2359; Alameda Aero Club 510/638-6197.
Good luck,
